Resolution from Assemblymember Holden lays the foundation for a better electric power grid for California and states across the West 

SACRAMENTO, August 11, 2022 — Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) celebrated the California Legislature’s passage of ACR 188, which kickstarts discussions about California’s role in improving the Western power grid in collaboration with other states in the region.

RICHMOND, August 5, 2022 — Business association Virginia Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) applauded  today’s State Corporation Commission decision greenlighting construction of the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach. The project is set to be the largest offshore wind farm in North America and follows the landmark 2020 Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA), which included specific provisions to encourage the development of offshore wind, helping Virginia’s largest utility go 100% clean by 2045. 

New statewide poll shows smog and air quality adversely impacting quality of life in Colorado; majority support electrifying trucks, buses

PHOENIX, June 24, 2022 — National business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) commended the Arizona legislature’s passage of SB 1246, which will improve the ability of Arizona schools to access cost-saving transportation services. The bill, proposed by Senator Paul Boyer (R-Glendale) and sponsored by AEE, was passed unopposed by the Senate late last night and approved by the House with bipartisan support and is poised to make it easier for school districts to evaluate electric vehicle school buses and charging options.

Governor Newsom’s updated budget proposal presents an opportunity to boost the state’s efforts toward a 100% clean grid, but should focus on clean energy reliability strategies to address short-term and long- term needs.

The $65 million grant program sets Colorado on track to electrify its school bus fleet and drive new electrification funding to the state.

DENVER, CO, May 10, 2022 — Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) applauded Colorado’s new electric school bus grant program, which provides an initial $65 million investment for schools to more quickly make the switch to clean bus rides for kids. The program passed out of Legislature today as a part of Senate Bill 193, a broader air quality investment package.

ALBANY, April 8, 2022 — Today national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) commended Governor Hochul and the New York legislature for committing to electrify 100% of the state’s 47,000 diesel school buses by 2035. The New York State operating budget solidifies a 2027 target of 100% electric sales for all new school buses, provides funding for charging infrastructure needed to power the transition, and extends lease terms to 12 years from five, offering school districts more flexibility and greater access to the long-term savings these vehicles generate. 

Governor Sisolak’s announcement that Nevada is joining the multi-state MOU puts Nevada on the fast track to transportation electrification and the economic benefits that come with it.
