Virginia AEE celebrates approval of offshore wind project expected to spur thousands of new jobs

The project is set to be the largest offshore wind farm in America and could cement Virginia as the nation’s leading wind power hub 

RICHMOND, August 5, 2022 — Business association Virginia Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) applauded  today’s State Corporation Commission decision greenlighting construction of the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach. The project is set to be the largest offshore wind farm in North America and follows the landmark 2020 Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA), which included specific provisions to encourage the development of offshore wind, helping Virginia’s largest utility go 100% clean by 2045.

Arizona legislature passes bill to save schools time and money when purchasing electric school buses

Legislation to make it easier for school districts to evaluate electric school bus options moves to the Governor’s desk with overwhelming bipartisan support.

PHOENIX, June 24, 2022 — National business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) commended the Arizona legislature’s passage of SB 1246, which will improve the ability of Arizona schools to access cost-saving transportation services. The bill, proposed by Senator Paul Boyer (R-Glendale) and sponsored by AEE, was passed unopposed by the Senate late last night and approved by the House with bipartisan support and is poised to make it easier for school districts to evaluate electric vehicle school buses and charging options.

New York passes historic budget to lead the “charge” on electric school buses

Newly approved funding sets the state on the fastest timeline in the nation to electrify its 47,000 school buses. 

ALBANY, April 8, 2022 — Today national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) commended Governor Hochul and the New York legislature for committing to electrify 100% of the state’s 47,000 diesel school buses by 2035. The New York State operating budget solidifies a 2027 target of 100% electric sales for all new school buses, provides funding for charging infrastructure needed to power the transition, and extends lease terms to 12 years from five, offering school districts more flexibility and greater access to the long-term savings these vehicles generate.
