CARSON CITY, December 2, 2021 — Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) applauded Governor Sisolak for his appointments to the Regional Transmission Coordination Task Force, which includes policy leaders in the advanced energy industry, including Enel North America’s Mona Tierney-Lloyd.

The Task Force was created by Senate Bill (SB) 448* (2021) to study the costs and benefits of joining a regional organized wholesale electricity market and to recommend policies that facilitate utility entrance into a Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) by 2030. A western RTO would harness competitive market forces and transparent planning processes to make energy more reliable and affordable for Nevadan ratepayers, and will also spur new private investment and job creation in the state.

Required by SB 7018,* the long-term plan suggests a number of programs the Public Service Commission or state legislature could take up next session, such as providing funding to fill charging infrastructure gaps, establishing statewide electric vehicle (EV) adoption goals, implementing a competitive grant program to spur private investment, and electrifying the state’s fleets to increase resiliency.

Advanced energy business group urges ACC to finalize proposed energy rules to provide regulatory certainty to continue growth

PHOENIX, August 17, 2021 — A new analysis commissioned by the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC), while acknowledging that it is unable to project long-term costs to consumers, finds that transitioning to clean and advanced energy options is “reliable and cost-effective” in the near-term.

“The report shows that clean and advanced energy solutions in Arizona can be both reliable and cost-effective with today’s technology,” said Shelby Stults, a principal at Advanced Energy Economy (AEE), a national business group representing companies working to make the energy we use secure, clean, and affordable. “Arizona is full of potential when it comes to providing solar power, energy storage, and other advanced energy technologies. Businesses across the country are looking to Arizona’s utility commissioners to provide the regulatory certainty they need to invest in the state.”

At 83,000 jobs, the state’s advanced energy industry employs four times more Hoosiers than auto manufacturing.

INDIANAPOLIS, August 17, 2021 – Indiana Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) released its Indiana jobs fact sheet, demonstrating the advanced energy industry’s economic promise across the state. Like all industries in Indiana, COVID-19 impacted advanced energy employment in the state, but the industry still supported a workforce of more than 83,300 at the end of 2020, with employers expecting strong job growth this year.

“In spite of economic downturns nationwide, advanced energy jobs in Indiana should see a strong rebound in 2021,” said Caryl Auslander, director at Indiana AEE. “The advanced energy industry has proven it is ready to lead our post-COVID recovery, with employers projecting 6 percent job growth for the state. Not only do these jobs offer quality employment for Hoosiers, they spur added cost savings for consumers and create overall economic growth for our state.”

New report from AEE finds investing in cleaner energy technologies in New Mexico would create nearly 800,000 jobs and save New Mexicans almost $6 billion annually on energy costs

SANTA FE, July 28, 2021 – National business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) released a new report today that adds up the benefits of a potential federal stimulus package for New Mexico’s advanced energy sector. According to the report, a federal investment of $20 billion would deliver a nearly six-fold return for the state, adding $117 billion to the GSP (gross state product). The investment would also save consumers, municipalities, and businesses almost $6 billion on energy costs every year for decades to come and create 796,000 industry jobs (measured in job-years) for New Mexicans.

A new economic analysis finds a targeted $25 billion stimulus in Ohio's advanced energy sector would create nearly 1.7 million jobs for Ohioans and add $260 billion to the state economy—a 10-fold return on investment.

COLUMBUS, July 21, 2021 – Today, national business association Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) released a report quantifying the benefits of advanced energy investment for Ohio. The report found that investing $25 billion from potential federal stimulus in advanced energy technologies* would create 1.7 million new jobs for Ohioans (measured in job-years), save Ohio consumers $13 billion annually, generate $14 billion in annual tax revenue, and add $264 billion to GSP (gross state product).

“Federal investment in advanced energy could reset Ohio’s energy pathway by spurring new investments in energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and energy storage. These investments would benefit families and businesses, as well as the state’s economy overall,” said J.R. Tolbert, a managing director at Advanced Energy Economy. “Targeted stimulus applied to advanced energy has the potential to produce a 10-fold return on investment, while creating good paying local jobs.”
