Indiana Advanced Energy Economy Opposes SB 472 as Amended
Bill now includes moratorium on energy development designed to protect coal interests at the expense of Indiana consumers and businesses

INDIANAPOLIS, April 8, 2019 — Indiana Advanced Energy Economy (Indiana AEE) released the following statement today in opposition to SB 472, which was amended last week to include a 20-month moratorium on utility regulatory commission action on any matter involving more than 250 MW of generating capacity at a time when utilities are considering retiring coal-fired units and replacing them with cleaner, cheaper energy sources:

With 3.5 million jobs, advanced energy industry employs more U.S. workers than retail stores, twice as many as hotels and motels, three times coal and oil industries

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 20, 2019 – Today national business group Advanced Energy Economy released a fact sheet showing that the advanced energy industry employed 3.5 million U.S. workers in 2018, an increase of 125,000 jobs over 2017. Advanced energy employment grew 4 percent year-over-year, more than twice as fast as the overall U.S. employment growth rate of 1.5 percent. Employers expect to add 6 percent more advanced energy jobs in the coming year.

Business group files Amicus Brief in support of states’ challenge to EPA’s unlawful attempt to unwind existing achievable and cost-effective standards

WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 19, 2019 – Today national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) announced it has filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in support of petitions brought by 17 states, the District of Columbia, and others challenging the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) proposed rollback greenhouse gas emissions standards for light-duty vehicles. Business group files petition raising concerns about New England grid operator’s proposed changes to rules for energy efficiency resources

WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 13, 2019 – Today national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) announced it has filed a petition with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regarding concerns about recent changes suggested by independent regional grid operator ISO New England Inc.’s (ISO-NE) staff to the process for measurement and verification of energy efficiency resources that participate in ISO-NE’s markets. WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 23, 2019 – Today national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) announced it has appointed Allison Ingram as senior vice president for finance and operations, effective Feb. 11. She will be based in the business group’s Washington office.

Allison comes to AEE with executive financial management experience, most recently as the director of finance, administration, and operations for the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), which serves 29,000 members. Previously, she was vice president of finance and administration for the National Society of Accountants.

WASHINGTON, December 18, 2018 — Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) reacted to a new report by the North American Electric Reliability Corp. (NERC) on the potential impact of an extreme scenario of accelerated power plant retirements on grid reliability. 

"Today’s report should be viewed in context. As NERC itself states, the report looks at unlikely scenarios that go far beyond either announced or projected power plant retirements to determine at what point there might be some risk for reliability,” said Jeff Dennis, general counsel for regulatory affairs at AEE.
