Senate Bill 448 calls for new investment in transportation electrification infrastructure and a multi-state regionally interconnected electricity market to improve grid resilience, reliability, and reduce energy costs.

CARSON CITY, May 13, 2021 — National business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) urged Nevada lawmakers to support Senate Bill 448, which would jumpstart investment in electric transportation infrastructure and reduce energy costs for all Nevadans by requiring state utilities to join a regional transmission organization (RTO) by 2030. The bill also focuses more energy efficiency spending on low-income households to reduce energy costs and levels the playing field by creating tax parity for energy storage to complement the state’s renewable resources.  

Senate Bill 260 would provide comprehensive funding streams for Colorado to accelerate vehicle electrification and modernize the state’s transportation infrastructure.

DENVER, May 13, 2021 — Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) announced its support for Colorado’s comprehensive transportation funding legislation, Senate Bill 21-260*. Approved by the Senate Finance Committee and scheduled for a second Senate Appropriations Committee hearing and likely vote tomorrow, SB 260 calls for investing over $730 million over the next decade to accelerate Colorado’s zero-emission vehicle market.

Approved by the Senate Education Committee today, Senate Bill S5268 offers incentives of up to 20% of cost and sales tax exemption, as well as longer lease terms, to school districts purchasing or leasing electric buses; the bill also allows state aid to be used for charging infrastructure costs.

ALBANY, April 29 2021 — Today national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) released a report examining the economic and workforce potential as New York State’s Electric Transportation (ET) industry expands. The report reveals that 882 businesses in 61 of New York’s 62 counties employ an estimated 4,200 electric transportation-related workers. This figure is expected to increase by 32% by 2024 to an estimated 5,500 workers.

PHOENIX, April 28, 2021 — Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) condemned Arizona legislators’ passage of Senate Bill 1459*. The bill is now headed to Governor Ducey’s desk. If signed, it will create duplicative oversight that will delay decisions from the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC), the body that regulates the state’s energy system and utilities. This policy will hurt Arizona ratepayers and the business community by eliminating the regulatory certainty needed for reliable and affordable energy. After being amended on the floor, the bill passed out of the House of Representatives on Monday April 25 with a vote of 31 to 28 and one abstention. It was sent back to the Senate for a final reading, where it passed 16 to 14. 

New report shows California’s electric transportation-related workforce expected to nearly double by 2024; already 3,900 companies across the state  are involved in electric transportation, while related industries with more than half a million workers have an opportunity to quickly retool and retrain to meet market demand for business and job growth.

SACRAMENTO, CA, April 22, 2021 — Today national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) released a report that shows 3,900 electric transportation-related California businesses dispersed across 55 of its 58 counties as of 2019. Employment in electric transportation (ET) is expected to nearly double by 2024 to an estimated 68,000 workers as demand for electric vehicles (EV) and EV charging infrastructure grows.

In 2020, advanced energy employed 3.2 million workers nationwide, with 8% job growth expected to power economic recovery in 2021.

Employing 3.2 million U.S. workers, the advanced energy workforce dipped during the height of the pandemic, but is poised to bounce back strong in 2021. As of late 2020, advanced energy employed more U.S. workers than Food and Beverage stores nationwide (3.1 million) and twice as many as Commercial Banks (1.4 million).
