The new state office will handle energy, water and land issues and steer policy for the state at a time of unprecedented opportunity.
PHOENIX, Feburary 23, 2023 – Today, national business group Advanced Energy United (formerly Advanced Energy Economy) applauded Governor Katie Hobbs for creating an Office of Resiliency to handle energy, water, and land issues for the state and congratulated Maren Mahoney, who has been named its director.
“Arizona has been one of the only states in the nation without an office dedicated to managing energy issues since the former state energy office was disbanded in 2015,” said Michael Barrio, Policy Principal at Advanced Energy United. “At a time when unprecedented funding for advanced energy, transportation, and manufacturing is available from the federal government, it’s critical that Arizona have an office dedicated to steering energy policy for the state. We are thrilled to see an experienced and knowledgeable team appointed to run this office, and Advanced Energy United looks forward to working with them to advance Arizona’s energy priorities.”
