Indiana’s Wind and EV Industries Growing Despite Pandemic Setbacks

At 83,000 jobs, the state’s advanced energy industry employs four times more Hoosiers than auto manufacturing.

INDIANAPOLIS, August 17, 2021 – Indiana Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) released its Indiana jobs fact sheet, demonstrating the advanced energy industry’s economic promise across the state. Like all industries in Indiana, COVID-19 impacted advanced energy employment in the state, but the industry still supported a workforce of more than 83,300 at the end of 2020, with employers expecting strong job growth this year.

“In spite of economic downturns nationwide, advanced energy jobs in Indiana should see a strong rebound in 2021,” said Caryl Auslander, director at Indiana AEE. “The advanced energy industry has proven it is ready to lead our post-COVID recovery, with employers projecting 6 percent job growth for the state. Not only do these jobs offer quality employment for Hoosiers, they spur added cost savings for consumers and create overall economic growth for our state.”

Targeted Stimulus Investment in Advanced Energy Would Deliver Nearly $134 Billion to Virginia’s Economy

Economic analysis finds $20 billion in targeted stimulus investment would have a seven-fold impact, increasing Virginia’s gross state product and adding nearly 840,000 new jobs.

RICHMOND, June 14, 2021 – Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) released an economic assessment that found $20 billion in public investments across a range of advanced energy technologies* would increase Virginia's gross state product (GSP) by nearly $134 billion. This level of targeted stimulus would attract $49 billion in complementary private investment, save customers $6.4 billion annually, and add 838,000 jobs, measured in job-years, for Virginians.

California Legislature’s Budget to Accelerate Economic Recovery and Clean Transportation

SAN FRANCISCO, June 29, 2021 – Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) applauded the California legislature’s approval of advanced energy and clean transportation investment in its votes on the proposed budget for the state. This “budget bill junior” provides much-needed funding for critical programs that have accelerated California’s leadership in EV policy, including $525 million for the Clean Vehicle Rebate Program, $150 million for equity transportation programs, $124 million for in-state ZEV manufacturing grants and over $500 million for zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) infrastructure.

DENVER, June 24, 2021 — Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) participated in the signing ceremony for Senate Bill 72* (SB 21-072) by Governor Jared Polis. SB 72 enables critical investments in the electricity infrastructure needed to reliably transport clean energy across the state and region, and requires state utilities to join a regional transmission organization (RTO) by 2030. The bipartisan bill was passed by the House on June 3 (vote 49-15).

DENVER, June 17, 2021 — Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) joined Colorado Governor Jared Polis for the Senate Bill 21-260* (SB 260) signing ceremony at Floyd Hill. The bill creates three new state electrification enterprises and assures comprehensive transportation funding for the state, investing over $730 million to accelerate Colorado’s zero-emission vehicle market over the next decade. The bipartisan legislation was previously approved by the House on June 2, 2021 by a vote of 41-24.

Demonstrating the bipartisan appeal of the new energy economy, this major bill will jumpstart investment in electric transportation infrastructure and require state utilities to join a regional transmission organization (RTO) by 2030, creating jobs and reducing energy costs for all Nevadans. The bill now heads back to the Senate for concurrence, and then will go to the Governor’s desk for signature. Its approval will drive significant short- and long-term economic development by spurring in-state critical energy infrastructure, renewable energy generation, and electric vehicle infrastructure projects.
