EPA reinstatement of California’s waiver affirms states’ authority to adopt stronger clean vehicle standards; will drive new jobs to America’s electrified transportation and manufacturing sectors 

Washington, D.C., March 9, 2022 — Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) celebrated the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) decision to restore California’s Clean Air Act waiver to regulate vehicle emissions, which led to California’s Advanced Clean Cars (ACC), a long-standing program adopted by 16 states and the District of Columbia, which has helped create a market for vehicles that are more efficient and less polluting.

White House clean transit actions will drive jobs to America’s electrified transportation sector and pave a faster route to meeting EV adoption.

Washington, D.C., March 7, 2022 — Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) praised Vice President Kamala Harris’ remarks announcing federal action to accelerate clean transit and heavy-duty electric vehicle adoption. The announcement comes after the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed “Clean Trucks Rule,” which outlines standards for heavy-duty vehicle emissions that would reduce truck pollutants 90% below current EPA standards for model year 2031 vehicles, the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which included $5 billion in electric school bus funds, and the White House’s goal late last year to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions 50% by 2030. These vehicles, which include school buses, trucks, and government fleets, account for nearly a quarter of the country’s transportation emissions.

DENVER, March 3, 2022 – Today, Colorado Governor Jared Polis joined Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) in celebrating the formation of the Colorado Electric Transmission Authority (CETA), which is the state’s latest step toward a resilient Western regional power grid. With the Governor’s final appointments announced this week, CETA can begin working to modernize and streamline Colorado’s electric transmission planning process, remove long-standing barriers to clean energy projects, and lead to significant economic development and revenue generation for communities across the state.

AEE and EEI report identifies regulatory roadblocks and offers solutions to transitioning to cloud computing.

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 3, 2022 – Today, Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) and the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) released a new paper about the regulatory reforms needed to modernize the information technology (IT) systems that utilities depend on to provide safe, reliable, and efficient operations. “Reaching for the Cloud: Solutions for Regulatory Parity for Cloud Services for Utilities” details how regulations in place for nearly a century are delaying utilities’ transition from on-premises systems to cloud computing services, which is happening across other industries. The impacts are far-reaching and affect all regulated utilities, including electric, water, and natural gas companies. “Reaching for the Cloud” explores avenues for placing all IT solutions on a more similar regulatory footing, with the goal of unlocking cost savings and greater benefits for customers while supporting utility efforts to meet higher expectations for reliability, resilience, and clean energy.

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 1, 2022 – Today, ahead of the State of the Union address, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) urged President Joe Biden to look toward advanced energy for the sake of national security and to better protect Americans from future spikes in the prices of fossil fuels.

AEE joins other clean energy groups in appealing the FERC decision to reject a rehearing of its approval of the Southeast Energy Exchange Market (SEEM) proposal

New report commissioned by Virginia AEE finds overall cost savings from decarbonizing Virginia’s electric grid over the next 25 years

RICHMOND, February 8, 2022 – Virginia Advanced Energy Economy (Virginia AEE) today released the findings of a new report that quantifies the costs and benefits of 2020’s Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA), and found the law will lead to a reduction of electric bills for the average Virginia household by $33.76 per year by 2030.

The message to Senators and Delegates: The advanced energy industry already employs over 93,000 people across Virginia, and the General Assembly’s new policies, including the VCEA, RGGI and Clean Cars standards, set the Commonwealth up for continued job growth

RICHMOND, January 28, 2022 — In an open letter to the members of the Virginia General Assembly, business leaders from across the advanced energy industry are calling on state Senators and Delegates to stay the course on creating a clean energy future for the Commonwealth. The call to action was organized by Virginia Advanced Energy Economy (Virginia AEE), in partnership with its affiliate organization Advanced Energy Works, which published the open letter online and in a full page ad in the Richmond Times-Dispatch on Friday.
