U.S. Advanced Energy Posts Big Jobs Gains, Employing 3.4 Million Across Nation
WASHINGTON, May 16, 2018 —Today national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) reacted to the latest U.S. Energy and Employment Report (USEER). The 2018 USEER was published by the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) and the Energy Futures Initiative (EFI) based on a survey conducted by BW Research.
Below are observations by Heather O'Neill, interim CEO at AEE:
“Like its two previous editions, the new Energy and Employment Report shows just what we see in the industry – that advanced energy is growing,” said Heather O’Neill, interim CEO of Advanced Energy Economy, a national business group. “Overall, jobs supported by advanced energy companies grew by nearly 50,000 last year, to over 3.4 million across the country. Energy efficiency jobs led the way, and there was strong growth in other advanced energy segments as well, including wind, combined heat and power, geothermal, low-impact hydro, and energy storage. We thank NASEO and Energy Futures Initiative for picking up the ball on this important annual survey and providing essential data on the jobs impact of advanced energy.”
The 2017 USEER, published by the U.S. Dept. of Energy (also conducted by BW Research), showed advanced energy supported 3.3 million U.S. jobs.
