Greentech Media Cites AEE in Coverage of New York Regulatory Reform

Posted by Industry News on Apr 29, 2014

As Greentech Media reports, New York has made huge structural adjustments to the utilities market in its recent regulation reforms, thereby meeting the needs of a more distributed, consumer-focused energy system. In the New York Public Services Commission’s recently released report - ‘Reforming Energy Vision, the commission calls for an overhaul of the regulation of the state’s distribution utilities. The commission also acknowledges that the current distribution system cannot meet the needs of the changes in the energy market.

The article mentions AEE’s 21st Century Electricity System forums, which take place across the country and bring together key stakeholders to discuss the future of the electricity system:

“Other key stakeholders in New York agree. A working group that came out of a recent Advanced Energy Economy forum, which includes Consolidated Edison, PSEG Long Island and New York Power Authority, concluded that a more competitive business model is needed, one in which benefits are redefined to capture consumer value, system resiliency and efficiency.”
