Advanced Energy United Applauds Governor Lombardo Signing the Nevada Clean Trucks and Buses Incentive Program

Posted by Adam Winer on Jun 12, 2023

Program will offer incentives for the purchase of zero-emission medium-and-heavy-duty vehicles

CARSON CITY, NV, June 12, 2023 – Today, Advanced Energy United, the national association of businesses working to achieve 100% clean energy and electrified transportation, commended Governor Lombardo for signing into law AB 184, which established a Nevada Clean Trucks and Buses Incentive Program.

“This legislation will drive Nevadan businesses and fleets forward into a modern, high-performing, lower-cost, clean transportation future,” said Gabriela Olmedo, policy associate at Advanced Energy United. “We thank Assemblyman Watts for championing this important bill, and Governor Lombardo for recognizing the economic opportunity that the growing electric vehicle market offers the state.”

This bill earmarks federal funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to create the Nevada Clean Trucks and Buses Incentive Program, which will offer incentives to businesses and fleet managers for the purchase of zero-emission medium and heavy-duty vehicles.

Nevada businesses want access to the considerable operational, maintenance, and fuel savings offered by medium and heavy-duty electric vehicles," said Heidi Sickler, Senior Director of Policy and Market Development at bp pulse fleet. "This new program will help those businesses take advantage of federal dollars to access those savings."

“The Nevada Clean Trucks and Buses Incentive program will kickstart Nevada’s new and promising electric vehicle market and drive economic development and diversification into a growth industry," added Olmedo. "The state is incredibly well-positioned to become an electric vehicle hub, especially given its competitive advantage in manufacturing and lithium resources. The widespread, bipartisan support that AB184 received demonstrates Nevada’s commitment to the future in a big way."
