Ford Motor Company announced that it has sold 29,561 of its hybrid models in Q1 2013. Previously, Ford's annual record for hybrid sales was just under 35,500 in 2010. Ford's share of the American hybrid market was 18 percent in April, up from just 3 percent this time last year. As Ford's sale of hybrid vehicles grows, Toyota has experienced stagnation and negative growth. For the first time, an American car company is set to claim dominance in the American hybrid vehicle market. Bloomberg reports:
“We’re turning, conquesting and growing our sales the fastest in the largest hybrid markets in the country,” Merkle said yesterday in a telephone interview. Sales of gasoline- electric Fusions beat the Camry hybrid in April, and the top four markets for Fusion hybrids this year are Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco, Merkle said.Read more here.
