AEE Launches PowerPortal, a New PowerSuite Application for Understanding Energy Policy and Regulation in all 50 States

Building on AEE’s PUC Portal, New Tool Gives PowerSuite Users Exclusive Information on Regulatory Agencies, Energy Markets, and Utilities in Each State

Washington, DC, September 2, 2014 – Users of PowerSuite, the online platform for navigating state energy policy, legislation, and regulation in all 50 states, will now have access to more critical information on regulatory agencies, energy markets, and utilities thanks to PowerPortal, the newest PowerSuite application launched today by Advanced Energy Economy (AEE).

Billed as “your guide to the who, what, where, when, and why of state energy policy,” PowerPortal contains all the background on policymakers – governors, executive branch officials, legislators, and utility regulators – and data on electricity prices and fuel mix first provided in AEE’s Public Utility Commission Portal, and this information remains available to the public through PowerPortal.

But for PowerSuite users, PowerPortal also offers additional – and exclusive – content of critical value to businesses and organizations impacted by state energy policy. PowerPortal provides more background information on public utility commissioners, including years in office, end of term, appointment process, and NARUC committee membership, as well as commission jurisdiction and statutory authority. PowerPortal also provides information on key utility commission staff, such as commission advisors, general counsels, and energy efficiency and renewable energy directors. In addition, PowerPortal, offers critical financial and operational data on major utilities in each state – investor-owned, cooperative, and public. It also provides information on key energy policies such as time varying rates. PowerPortal will soon include information on state energy market structures, major utility PUC docket filing schedules, and state energy efficiency and renewable energy policies as well.

“PowerPortal brings together an unprecedented level of information on the key leaders in energy policy in all 50 states,” said Graham Richard, CEO of AEE. “With the addition of PowerPortal, PowerSuite becomes an even more powerful platform to help AEE members, partners, and subscribers understand and have impact on energy policy. Knowledge is power, and in state energy policy, PowerPortal is the ultimate source of knowledge.”

Launched in June, PowerSuite is the only fully integrated set of online tools for tracking energy legislation and regulatory proceedings across all 50 states. PowerSuite’s easy-to-use interface allows users to search, track, and collaborate on the energy policies that matter to them. The first two tools in PowerSuite were Billboard, for tracking legislation, and DocketDash, for tracking public utility dockets. PowerPortal is now the third application in PowerSuite.

PowerSuite is available as a benefit of AEE membership for Leadership Council and Business Council members; General Members receive free access to PowerPortal, as well as a discount on PowerSuite’s other tools. PowerSuite is also available by subscription, with free access for government employees and special rates for educational institutions and nonprofit organizations. Subscriptions are offered at a 20% discount through September 30.
