AEE Applauds Ambitious, Achievable U.S. House Dem Committee Leaders' Proposal for 100% Clean Energy

Posted by Monique Hanis on Jan 8, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 8, 2020 – National business group Advanced Energy Economy reacted the release of a legislative framework by U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee Democratic leaders to expand clean energy adoption to 100% by 2050 and ensure fairness of competitive wholesale electricity markets.

"We applaud House Democratic Committee Leaders for introducing an ambitious yet achievable legislative outline to reach a 100% clean energy economy by 2050. We are pleased that the draft embraces the role of competitive markets in providing consumers with access to advanced energy resources," said Dylan Reed, director at Advanced Energy Economy.

"Competitive wholesale electricity markets with fair market rules and a level playing field for advanced energy can and will facilitate achievement of a 100% clean grid at lower cost while increasing grid reliability, fostering innovation, and creating jobs across the country," said Reed. "In addition, this legislative outline offers a path for businesses and households to choose to have their electricity come from these energy resources. We look forward to working with Congress on this legislation."
