Advanced Energy Perspectives

Customers ranging from big box stores to individual homeowners are investing in advanced energy across the country. Also in the news this week: A wind turbine was installed every two and a half hours during the first quarter of 2017, and an AEE member company broke ground on the largest solar plant in the Americas. With record-breaking projects and rapid deployment of advanced energy resources, the industry’s future remains bright.

This week, we have stories from the windy plains of Iowa, where a Berkshire Hathaway-owned utility, MidAmerican Energy, is closing in on 100% of its power from wind and solar; booming electric vehicle sales projections and brand new sunroof technology that could transform the market; and some AEE member news and REV updates out of New York. It’s been a busy week all around!

Sometimes the news isn’t exactly new. Faithful readers of Advanced Energy Perspectives will recognize much of what is in this week’s news: From Schneider Electric’s new microgrid system to GE’s first-ever storage-plus-natural-gas system to Salesforce making good on its advanced energy commitments, AEE members are, as always, leading the way to an energy system that is ever more secure, clean, and affordable.

Advanced energy is becoming a part of our everyday lives. Whether we know it or not, every time we turn on the lights, drive on a road, or go shopping we are interacting with technologies that are helping the world run on energy that is secure, clean, and affordable. This week the news was full of just those stories: From Portland and Chicago we have stories of cities choosing advanced energy, and from Ford and Walmart stories of advanced energy integrating into our everyday lives.

At $200 billion in annual revenue and employing more than 3 million American workers, advanced energy is driving the U.S. economy forward… literally! This week’s news was full of advanced vehicles, the latest in solar roofs, and nuclear power for the next generation.
