TESLA MODEL S SEDAN RECEIVES TOP CRASH TEST SAFETY RATINGS
August 20, 2013 // Greentech Media
Not only is the Tesla Model S top-notch in quality, as rated by Consumer Reports, it is also among the safest cars on the road, according to a recent National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) test. The car received top 5-star ratings in every safety and crash category across the board, and received a Vehicle Safety Score (VSS) of 5.4. This VSS score set a new record for the “lowest likelihood of injury to occupants” according to Tesla reps. The Model S has an advantage because it lacks a large engine block under its hood, resulting in a larger “crumple zone” to absorb energy and protect passengers in the event of a crash. This news follows a second-quarter in which Tesla posted better-than-expected earnings and delivered a record number of its flagship Model S cars.
