Indianapolis, Aug. 1, 2017 – Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) announced the appointment of Vince Griffin as Executive Director for Indiana Advanced Energy Economy (Indiana AEE), which represents national and local AEE members in Indiana. Griffin joins Indiana AEE after retiring last year as vice president of energy and environmental policy for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Griffin previously served as director of Indiana’s Energy Policy Office.

“Vince Griffin has effectively navigated Indiana’s energy policy landscape for years,” said AEE CEO Graham Richard, who is the former mayor of Fort Wayne. “We welcome his dynamic leadership and deep experience as we work to increase awareness of the economic potential for advanced energy growth in Indiana.”

"Vince Griffin brings a wealth of knowledge and deep experience in energy to Indiana Advanced Energy Economy,” said Greg Ballard, senior fellow at Indiana AEE and former mayor of Indianapolis. “I know he will work tirelessly in the pursuit of secure, clean, and affordable energy for the state and the economic benefits that come with it."

“I am pleased to be able to join AEE,” said Griffin. “After many years of working on energy policy at the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, I look forward to working on behalf of the companies that are providing the innovative technologies, products, and services that give us the smarter energy future we all want, and the jobs and economic growth Indiana needs.”

In his role at the Indiana Chamber of Commerce since in 1997, Griffin was responsible for policy matters related to electric power, natural gas and advanced energy resources, as well as air, water, solid and hazardous waste issues, and permitting concerns. Griffin is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS), former president of the Indiana Environmental Health Association and board member of the Center for Earth and Environmental Sciences at Indiana University. He is a graduate of Indiana University’s School of Medicine and Ball State University.

Griffin’s appointment as Executive Director of Indiana AEE is the latest step in AEE’s increasing presence in the state, which was launched last year. Also today, AEE CEO Graham Richard, former mayor of Fort Wayne, is interviewed in the latest Indiana Chamber of Commerce ECHO Chamber podcast episode. Later this month, AEE policy manager Benjamin Stafford appears on a panel entitled “Policy Cents: How and Why State Energy Plans Affect Your Bottom Line and Resource Planning,” at the Chamber’s upcoming 2017 Indiana Conference on Energy Management, on Aug. 15 in Indianapolis.
