Experienced Policy Leader to Guide Engagement with Congress, Administration

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 22, 2014 – Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) today announced the appointment of Arvin Ganesan as vice president of federal policy. Ganesan joins AEE after serving as deputy chief of staff for policy at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and previously working for the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) as chief advisor on energy and environmental policy.

Profiled by National Journal as one of 250 most influential officials in the Obama Administration, Ganesan comes to AEE with a wealth of government affairs experience.

While at the EPA, he has served as a key political advisor and liaison to policymakers and stakeholders. He facilitated communications between the EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy’s office and Congress, state governors, and mayors. He also worked closely with senior leadership at the White House and other federal agencies, including Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, USDA, and the Council on Environmental Quality. Previous positions held at EPA include associate administrator for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations and deputy associate administrator for Congressional affairs.

“Arvin Ganesan is a government affairs professional with experience inside and outside of federal government,” said CEO Graham Richard. “He will be a tremendous asset as we work with Congress and the Administration to create a prosperous future powered by secure, clean, affordable energy.”

“AEE brings a business voice to conversations about federal policy ranging from tax reform to greenhouse gas emissions,” said Malcolm Woolf, Senior Vice President for Policy and Government Affairs. “With his vast policy experience and down-to-earth manner, Arvin will be an effective advocate for our industry and for a better energy future.”

“I am pleased to be able to join AEE,” said Ganesan, who starts at his new position November 4. “After many years of working on policy in Congress and EPA, I look forward to working on behalf of the companies that provide the technologies, products, and services that give us the smarter energy future we all want.”

Ganesan received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts–Amherst and earned a master’s in public administration from George Washington University. Before working for Lautenberg, he was at the Pew Center on Global Climate Change and the Calvert Group.
